Field Fresh | Birdseye

At Birds Eye, we have over 60 years of experience growing and snap freezing vegetables. We are very proud of this heritage, and care very much about the process we take to bring you only the best quality vegetables.

TAKE PEAS AS AN EXAMPLE

PLANTING THE SEEDS

The season begins each year when we select the best seeds for our farmers to plant in July and August. With the help of Mother Nature and our farmers it takes an average of 10 weeks for them to be ready for harvest.

HARVESTING TIME

By watching each crop as it matures we pick our peas at their peak with equipment that takes the pea pods off the vine and carefully removes the delicate peas.

WASH AND BLANCH

Once the peas arrive at the plant, they are on the conveyor belt for a quick wash and blanch before freezing. By this stage they are still bursting with flavour having been out of the field for four or five hours at most.

BIRDSEYE FIELD FRESH

Once the peas enter the freezing tunnel they are then packed into our Birds Eye Field Fresh packaging and on their way to supermarkets around Australia the very same day.
