Fibre %DI

BreadDietary fibre is the name given to carbohydrates eaten  which are sourced from plant foods. These pass through the body undigested and are mainly found in cereals, vegetables, fruit and legumes.  Cereal grains that are eaten ‘whole’ (e.g. wholegrain bread or brown rice) are generally higher in dietary fibre than processed foods, as processing removes a large amount of fibre from the grain.

The daily intake for fibre is 30g.  This is based on the recommended adequate intake of 30 g per day.  Currently, the fibre intake of most Australians falls well below this recommendation.
